The Story So Far
I became deeply interested in Spanish history, culture, and sport at a very young age. This fascination sparked a desire to learn Spanish, which turned into a broader passion for language. It has led me to study, work, and live in several places in Spain and in Santiago, Chile. Whilst I was there, I took the opportunity to explore the length of the country and visit other countries in the region.
These experiences have given me a deep understanding and appreciation of culture and language in two continents. I am now trilingual and have experienced the joy of talking to people in their own language and on their own terms. I fiercely believe in the power the right words in the right place can have. The possibilities to be found in communicating across cultures constantly amaze me.
I carry over that same sense of wonder and enthusiasm to my work as a translator where I speak directly to and for people. Translation can have such a powerful impact. It opens up connections through communication, creating opportunities and providing the means for everyone to make the very most of them. Enabling all this and more is incredibly motivating.
I have a wide range of hobbies and interests besides translation. I like keeping active outdoors, whether that is running, hiking, camping, or kayaking or simply tending to a thriving collection of young trees. I also enjoy delving into science fiction and well-told stories of all genres because I take great satisfaction from the worlds that words can weave. All these pastimes offer me something, from energy to great writing, that I love putting back into my work.
